One of the things I love most about Springfield’s jazz scene is the community. Musicians show up for each other, audiences become familiar faces, and there’s always something special to look forward to.
On that note, I hope you can join me at the Women of Jazz Festival on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 3–9 p.m. at Hold Fast Brewing.
The festival features two stages and six hours of live music from women in our local jazz community. Tickets are only $10 per person.
I’ll be opening the festival with the Brueggemann Gouge Jazz Band at 3 p.m. and emceeing the event. Though, I’m curious who decided it was a good idea to give me mic for six hours?

- 6:20–6:50 p.m. Kristi Merideth & 83 Skidoo
- 7–7:30 p.m. Angelia King and The BG Band
- 7:40–8:10 p.m. Liz Carney & Ozarks Bella Donna
- 8:20 p.m. Bach & Pattillo
More than anything, I’m looking forward to spending the day with so many musicians and friends I admire. I love Springfield’s jazz scene, and I love that this event puts the spotlight on the women who are part of it.
